2014 Beginning Beekeeper class dates set

The New River Valley Beekeepers Association will offer its popular two-day Beginning Beekeeper class on Feb. 1 and April 5, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 220 Price Hall on the Virginia Tech campus.

The Feb. 1 session will include classroom instruction on a number of topics, including equipment, techniques and pests and diseases. The April 5 session includes a hive inspection demonstration session at the Tech apiary.

Cost is $55 and includes a beginner book, course materials and lunch. Two family members may share the book and course materials for a combined $80 fee. Pre-registration not later than Jan. 26 is required.

  1. WILL YOU BEE OFFERING QUEEN REARING CLASS’S IN 2014? AND DO YOU ALLOW VISITORS?

      A Queen Rearing Course for 2014 has not be scheduled as of 2/3/14. If a class is organized later on it will be posted on the website. If there are no registration fees involved for attending a course, participates and visitors can attend. If a fee is required, only those registered and who have paid for the course will be admitted.
